Program Outcomes

Students will acquire and apply a comprehensive understanding of scientific concepts, including chemistry, physics, mathematics, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, and computer applications in chemistry, to effectively address challenges within the field.
Students will demonstrate proficiency in designing, executing, and analyzing experiments, enabling them to investigate intricate problems in microbiology and related disciplines.
Students will be able to design and develop sustainable solutions to major environmental/biological problems by applying appropriate microbiology tools.

Program Structure
The B.Sc. Microbiology Program is of three-year duration. Each year is called an academic year and is divided into two semesters. Thus, there will be a total of six semesters. Each semester consists of fifteen weeks of teaching. The teaching learning process involves theory classes of an hour duration and practical classes of four hours duration. The curriculum will be delivered through various methods including chalk and talk, laboratories, power point presentations, audio, video tools, E-learning / E-content, virtual laboratories, simulations, field trips/ Industry visits, seminars, workshops, projects, models, class discussions and industrial internship.
The teaching-learning process incorporates both theory classes, which are one hour in duration, and practical classes, which are four hours long. The curriculum delivery encompasses various methods, including traditional chalk and talk lectures, hands-on laboratory sessions, dynamic presentations using audio and video tools, engaging e-learning and e-content resources, virtual laboratories, simulations, field trips, industry visits, seminars, workshops, projects, interactive models, class discussions, and invaluable industrial internships.
Evaluation
Evaluation methods encompass both internal and external assessments. The assessment structure comprises Internal Assessment, which is a continuous evaluation component, and External Assessment, specifically the End Semester Examination. Each course is allocated a total of 100 marks for theory, with 50 marks allocated for Internal Assessment and 50 marks for the End Semester Examination. Additionally, practical courses carry an extra 50 marks. Internal assessment is conducted through multiple methods such as Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), classroom tests, assignments, oral presentations, and short projects.

In the context of theory classes, one credit represents a one-hour lecture per week. On the other hand, for practical sessions, one credit corresponds to a two-hour laboratory session per week.
To obtain a B.Sc. Microbiology Degree (3 Years), students are required to complete a minimum of 126 credits. For those aiming for a B.Sc. Microbiology Honours Degree or B.Sc. Microbiology Honours with Research Degree, a minimum of 176 credits must be fulfilled.

Eligibility for Admission
Candidate must have passed 12th or equivalent (Science Stream) Examination from the recognized Board excluding NIOS securing a minimum 40% mark in aggregate of all the subjects. Applicants with 12th or equivalent from International Schools, affiliated to foreign education boards like IGCSE (International General Certificate for Secondary Education) and IB (International Baccalaureate) can apply, they have to submit equivalence certificate of Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.
Registration Fees
The registration fee for submitting online application form is Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred Only), which is to be paid online.
Selection Process:
45% and above aggregate marks in H.S.C (12th Std) or equivalent - Direct admission on first cum first basis. 40% to 45% aggregate marks in H.S.C (12th Std) or equivalent - on the spot Admission after interaction with the Faculty, School of Science, GSFC University.
